Diaries, almanacs and calendars for schools and colleges in Lucknow
Schools, colleges, universities and coaching institutes in Lucknow buy branded print on a different calendar from companies.
The academic year runs April to March, so a teacher's diary or a student planner dated January to December is out of step by the first term. We print academic-year diaries, student almanacs and planners, classroom wall calendars with exam and holiday schedules, and parent-facing table calendars, plus pens, bags and T-shirts for convocations and annual days. Designed in Vikas Nagar, delivered to the institution's office.
The decisions that matter for an institution are different from a company's: which year the diary follows, what the almanac must contain for parents and the management, how many classrooms need a calendar, and what the chief guest and the graduating batch receive at the annual function. This page takes each in turn.
Academic year or calendar year?
This is the first question for any institution, and the answer decides the delivery date. Schools whose session begins in April want teacher diaries and student almanacs dated April 2027 to March 2028, in hand by the last week of March. Colleges and universities with a July intake usually run their faculty diaries July to June, or simply use a calendar-year diary and accept the mismatch. Coaching institutes order around batch starts, which can be any month, and tend to prefer undated planners with a batch timetable printed in.
Calendars are different. Classroom and staff-room wall calendars that carry term dates and exam windows follow the session; the calendar that goes home to parents at New Year, or is given to the school's vendors and the management's contacts, follows January to December. Most schools end up with two print rounds a year — one in October–November for the January calendar, one in January–February for the April session's diaries — and it is simpler to plan both at once.
What each kind of institution orders
The products overlap, but the recipient and the pages inside change from a primary school to a university department. Budget is relative, not a price.

What goes inside a school diary or almanac
A school almanac is a working document for a full session, and the pages are usually agreed between the principal's office and the coordinators before artwork starts. These are the sections most Lucknow schools ask for.
- Front matter
- Principal's message, the school's vision, rules of conduct, uniform and timing, fee schedule with due dates, and the list of holidays and term breaks for the session.
- Timetable and homework pages
- A blank timetable grid the student fills in, followed by dated homework or classwork pages — one per working day — with a space for the class teacher's remark.
- Parent–teacher communication
- Tear-off or dated note pages for messages between home and school, a leave-record page and a PTM attendance record. These are the pages parents actually use.
- Teacher's diary pages
- For staff diaries: period-wise lesson-plan sheets, attendance registers by section, a syllabus-completion tracker and the exam and invigilation schedule.
- Cover and binding
- Almanacs take a year of being carried in a bag, so a laminated hardbound cover with the crest printed in full colour is the usual choice. Staff diaries move up to PU or leatherette, often with the teacher's name on the cover.
- Paper and size
- A5 is standard for staff; students' almanacs are often B5 so the homework pages have room. Paper is 70 GSM for the dated pages — see the size and GSM guide for the trade-offs.
A print timeline for the April session
December – January: brief and page list
The principal's office sends the crest, the holiday list for the coming session, the fee schedule and the page list for almanac and staff diary. Student numbers by class and the teacher count fix the quantities.
Late January: artwork and mockup
Cover and inside-page mockups go back for the coordinators to check; dates and term breaks are proofed once more against the school's own circular.
February: physical sample
A bound sample of the almanac and the staff diary comes to the school, so binding, paper and the crest's colour are checked in hand before the bulk run.
Late February – March: production
Our partner presses complete the run in 5–10 working days after approval. Almanacs are packed class-wise if the school wants to hand them out section by section.
Last week of March: delivery
Delivered by hand to the school office in Lucknow, with class-wise counts on each carton. Branch schools in other districts receive their lots by transport.
Annual days, convocations and admission season
Beyond diaries and calendars, three events bring institutions to us. The annual day or sports day needs mementos for chief guests — a crystal paper weight with the crest is the standard — and printed T-shirts for house teams, volunteers and the organising staff, screen-printed in house colours with sizes from a list.
Convocations and farewells call for something the graduate keeps: a boxed engraved pen with the batch year, a jute or canvas bag carrying the certificate folder, and sometimes a diary for the batch toppers. Admission season is the quieter one — printed bags for the prospectus, pens at the enquiry desk and a table calendar for the counselling room — but it is where the school's name travels furthest, because the parent carries the bag home.
A worked example: a senior secondary school's session order
This is an illustrative brief, not a client case study. A senior secondary school in Indira Nagar has 1,900 students, 110 teaching staff and 30 administrative staff, with its session starting on 1 April. The management wants three pieces: a B5 hardbound almanac for every student, an A5 PU diary with the teacher's name for staff, and a table calendar with PTM dates and the fee schedule to go home with every family in the first week of the session.
The page list is agreed in the second week of January and the holiday list is taken from the school's own circular rather than a generic list. Mockups are checked by two coordinators; the bound samples reach the principal in the first week of February. Production runs in February, with almanacs packed class-wise — twelve classes, several sections each — so the class teachers hand them out on day one. The 1,900 table calendars go home in the almanac bag, and the staff diaries are handed over at the pre-session staff meeting in the last week of March.
Where Lucknow's schools, colleges and institutes are
Lucknow's larger schools cluster in Indira Nagar, Aliganj and Mahanagar, with newer campuses along Shaheed Path and in Sushant Golf City, and the university and institute belt stretching out along Faizabad Road past Chinhat. Coaching institutes are concentrated in Aliganj, Kapoorthala and around Hazratganj. All of them are within our hand-delivery range from Vikas Nagar; the full list is on the Lucknow areas page.
If a school's trust also runs a hospital or a charitable programme, the NGOs and trusts page covers donor diaries and cause calendars. Our other diary formats, and the difference between a diary, a planner and a notebook, are explained in the diary versus planner guide. For the rest of the year, schools order crested notebooks, fee receipt books and prospectus brochures from the same desk.
Questions schools and colleges ask
Can the diary run April to March instead of January to December?
Yes. Academic-year diaries dated April 2027 to March 2028 are standard for schools, and July-to-June for colleges on request. The planner pages, holiday list and term dates follow the session you give us.
Can our school's own holiday list and exam dates be printed inside?
Yes. Send the session circular with holidays, term breaks and exam windows. They are marked in the almanac's planner pages and on the classroom wall calendar; we proof them against your circular before the sample.
What is the minimum order for a small school or coaching centre?
100 diaries or table calendars and 1,000 wall calendars. A coaching centre with fewer students usually orders 100 undated planners and T-shirts for a batch, which together make a sensible lot.
Can almanacs be packed class-wise?
Yes. Give us class and section strengths and each carton is packed and labelled by class, so class teachers collect their own bundle on the first day without counting from a pile.
When should a school approve artwork for an April session?
By the first week of February at the latest. That leaves time for a bound sample, one round of corrections and the 5–10 working days of production, with delivery in the last week of March.
Do you print T-shirts for sports day and annual day?
Yes. Screen-printed T-shirts in house colours, sizes taken from your list, with the crest or event name on the front. They are ordered separately from diaries and are useful for volunteers and organising staff too.
