Because nothing inside is tied to a year, companies in Lucknow order them in every month — for onboarding kits, training batches, conferences, dealer meets and institute use — in lots from 100 upwards. We design in Vikas Nagar, print at partner presses nearby and hand-deliver across the city.

Diaries are a December product; notebooks are not. This page covers the standard notebook we make, how it differs from a dated diary, and who orders it through the year.

Why notebooks are ordered in every month, not just December

A dated diary has one selling season: artwork in October or November, handover in the first week of January, and by February the demand is gone until autumn. A notebook has no such clock. It carries no 2027 date grid, so a batch printed in March is as useful in September, and a company can hold stock for the next intake without it going stale.

That is why notebook orders arrive through the year from buyers who rarely order diaries. HR teams want a notebook in every joining kit, whichever month the person starts. Training departments and coaching institutes begin batches in April, July and January. Conference organisers and hotels need event-branded notebooks for a date in the middle of the year. Manufacturers hold dealer meets after the season closes, often in February or March, and want something on the table for each dealer to write in.

Schools and colleges are a fourth stream: institute-branded notebooks for a new term, a prize distribution or a hostel intake, printed with the crest, the motto and a timetable page. None of these buyers is waiting for New Year.

The standard notebook, point by point

Most Lucknow orders settle on the same specification, with the cover and the first few pages doing the branding work. Each point below can be changed in the brief.

Size and binding
A5 — the size that fits a laptop bag and a lecture desk — hardbound so it opens flat and survives a year of meetings. B5 and A4 are possible for training manuals; the diary sizes and paper guide explains the trade-offs.
Pages and paper
200 or more inner pages on 70 GSM paper, ruled as standard. Plain or dotted pages can be specified for design teams and architects; the page count can go higher for a thicker book.
Cover tiers
Laminated board with a full-cover print is the usual choice for onboarding and training lots. PU covers with a blind-debossed or foil-stamped logo suit dealer meets and senior staff, in the same tiers as our leather diaries.
Your pages at the front
A welcome message, company values, a product range or a programme — four to sixteen printed pages bound before the ruled section. Institutes add a timetable and term dates; conference organisers add the schedule and speaker list.
Names and batches
Individual names can be foil-stamped or printed from an Excel list, and lots packed by department, batch or venue. An elastic band, ribbon marker and back pocket are optional extras.
Minimum and timing
The minimum is 100 notebooks. Mockups come first, a physical sample if you want one, and the bulk run is ready 5–10 working days after artwork approval, in any month.

Notebook or dated diary — which one does your brief need?

The two look similar on a desk and come from the same partner presses, but they answer different questions. A corporate diary is a calendar in book form: a 2027 planner, a page or a week for each date, national and Uttar Pradesh holidays, and company pages tied to the year. It is the right gift for a January handover to clients, dealers and staff, and it is worth little after December.

A notebook is a writing surface with your brand on it. It has no dates, so it can be given in any month, kept in stock and used until the last page is full. It costs less per piece than a diary of the same cover tier because there are no date pages to design and no holiday lists to check. For a new joiner, a trainee or a conference delegate, the notebook is almost always the right fit; for a client who expects a year-start gift, the diary is.

Some companies order both from one artwork: dated customised diaries for the December list and undated notebooks for the rest of the year, with the same cover and the same foil. The full comparison, including undated planners, is in the guide to diary vs planner vs notebook.

From logo file to delivered notebooks

  1. Brief on WhatsApp or the form

Quantity, cover tier, what goes on the front pages, whether names are needed and the date you want them in hand. An estimate usually follows the same working day.

  2. Mockup in your colours

usually within two working days you see the cover at actual size with the logo placed, plus a layout of any front pages. Two or three correction rounds are normal.

  3. Sample, if you want one

A single made-up notebook can be produced before the bulk run so the cover material, paper and binding are checked in hand.

  4. Confirmation and production

A 50% advance confirms the order. Our partner presses print the covers and pages, and our binding team collects, checks and binds; the lot is ready 5–10 working days after approval.

  5. Delivery and reorder

Hand delivery across Lucknow by our own team, courier or transport beyond it. The artwork stays on file, so the next batch — in whichever month — needs only a quantity.

A worked example: a training institute's two intakes

This is an illustrative brief, not a client case study. A coaching institute in Aliganj runs two intakes a year and wants every student to receive an institute notebook on the first day. The brief is for 600 A5 hardbound notebooks: 200 ruled pages on 70 GSM paper, a laminated board cover carrying the crest and motto, and eight printed pages at the front — a welcome from the director, the academic calendar, the faculty list and a blank timetable grid.

Because the intakes are in April and July, the order is split into two deliveries from one approval. Artwork is settled in the second week of March; a sample notebook is checked by the director in the third week; the first 350 are delivered to the Aliganj centre by our team in the first week of April and the balance 250 in the last week of June, each lot in cartons of 50 with the intake month on the label. The following year, the institute sends a new academic-calendar page and a quantity; nothing else changes.

Where notebook orders come from in Lucknow

Onboarding and training notebooks mostly come from the IT and services offices of Gomti Nagar and Vibhuti Khand; institute and coaching lots from Aliganj, Mahanagar and Kapoorthala; school and college orders from Indira Nagar. All are hand-delivered from Vikas Nagar, and the rest of the city is on the Lucknow areas page.

By buyer type, see what we make for IT companies and startups and for schools and colleges. A notebook is also the first item in most of our employee welcome kits, where it is boxed with a pen, a bottle and a bag.

Questions about customised notebooks

What is the minimum order for customised notebooks in Lucknow?

100 notebooks. Below that the cover setup and binding make the per-piece cost unreasonable. Companies with smaller monthly needs usually order a quarter's or a half-year's requirement at once and hold the stock, since nothing inside goes out of date.

How are the notebooks bound, and what paper is used inside?

They are hardbound — case-bound with a board cover — so they open flat and last. Inner pages are 70 GSM, 200 or more of them, ruled as standard; plain or dotted pages can be specified, and the page count increased for a thicker book.

Can we put our own pages at the front of the notebook?

Yes. A welcome message, company values, a product range, a programme or a timetable can be printed on four to sixteen pages and bound before the ruled section. Our design desk lays them out in your brand colours and shows a mockup first.

Do you print names on individual notebooks?

Yes. Names are foil-stamped or printed from an Excel list, and each notebook is packed in list order. This is common for training batches, conference delegates and senior staff; for large onboarding lots most companies keep the cover generic and add a name card inside.

How long does a notebook order take, and does the season matter?

Orders are ready 5–10 working days after artwork approval, in any month. Notebooks have no October–December rush of their own, but an order placed in the diary season shares the same presses, so a week of extra margin is sensible then.

Is a notebook cheaper than a diary with the same cover?

Usually, yes. There are no dated pages to design, no holiday lists to verify and fewer printed sheets, so a notebook sits below a dated diary of the same cover tier. The exact figure depends on quantity, cover and the number of printed front pages.
