Corporate gifts for food and FMCG brands in Lucknow

Corporate gifts for food and FMCG brands in Lucknow are mostly trade gifts: a wall calendar showing the brand's packs for every retail counter that stocks them, a dated diary for the distributors and sales representatives who serve those counters, and a boxed set at Diwali or New Year for the stockists and modern-trade buyers who decide how much shelf the brand gets.

Spice, namkeen, sweets, bakery, dairy, beverage and packaged-food companies order them in large lots; we design them in Vikas Nagar and pack them beat by beat.

A food brand's calendar competes for the same few square feet of wall as every other brand the shop sells, and has to stay up for twelve months. This page starts with that counter calendar, then covers the people around it — field team, stockists, buyers, promoters, the factory — and how Diwali and New Year fit around a food company's own busy season.

Why the counter calendar is the largest line

Ask the sales head of a food or FMCG company what the New Year order is really for, and the answer is usually a wall. A kirana store, sweet shop, bakery, milk booth or paan-and-cold-drink counter has space for two or three calendars, and the brands whose calendars hang there are the ones the shopkeeper and every customer see all day. That is why the 17×22 inch wall calendar is usually the biggest quantity in a food-brand order: one for each outlet the distributors reach.

For a food brand the calendar also puts the pack in front of the person who buys it: a shopper who sees the masala box or namkeen pouch beside the counter asks for it by name. So the design starts with pack shots, current and large enough to recognise across the shop, and then the date grid, clear enough for the shopkeeper to check supply days and festivals at a glance.

The sheet is 170 GSM paper with a metal strip at top and bottom, light and unlaminated, so it hangs from one nail on a pillar or door frame. For retail counters most brands choose one or six sheets: the fewer pages to turn, the likelier the calendar still shows the right month in August. Spice and ready-mix brands sometimes choose twelve sheets with a recipe each month that uses their own product; the calendar design ideas page shows pack-led and recipe layouts.

Who else is on a food brand's list

Behind the retailer sit five more groups. Distributors and stockists, who hold the brand's stock for a town or district, receive a PU corporate diary with their name on the cover and a table calendar for the office desk. Sales representatives and merchandisers who visit outlets daily receive a dated diary built around their beat, and a pen for a year of order forms.

Modern-trade buyers and category managers at supermarket chains are a short, careful list: a boxed diary with an engraved pen is usually the right weight, since many chains limit what buyers may accept. In-store promoters and sampling staff need T-shirts in brand colours more than gifts. And the factory — supervisors, packing staff, drivers, stores and quality teams — is often remembered only in late December; a shop-floor wall calendar and a diary for supervisors cover it.

Recipients, items and logo methods for a food brand

Food and FMCG orders split by where the recipient sits in the chain, not by seniority. Counts are largest at the counter and smallest for buyers and stockists, while the per-piece budget runs the other way; the budget column is relative, not a rate card.

Diaries built around a sales beat

A food brand's sales representative works a fixed beat: a few dozen outlets a day, the same route on the same weekday every week. A diary that helps with that gets used; one that does not stays in the scooter's dickey. The useful pages are a beat plan for each weekday, an outlet-visit log with columns for order taken, stock seen and display checked, a monthly target sheet, the product range with pack sizes, and the distributor's and area manager's numbers inside the cover.

Merchandisers, who arrange shelves and displays in supermarkets, need fewer ruled pages and more checklists — a store list, shelf-layout notes, display-audit pages. Both versions are dated A5 with the 2027 planner and Uttar Pradesh holidays, in leatherette or laminated board that survives a year in a bag. The field diary often goes to the distributors' own salesmen too, so the count is usually larger than the brand's payroll.

Points to settle before the calendar artwork

Food and FMCG calendars go wrong in predictable ways — an old pack on the wall all year, a price that changed in May. These are the points to agree in the brief.

Current pack files
Send packaging design files for the packs to be shown, not shelf photographs. If a pack is being redesigned in 2027, decide now whether the calendar shows the new pack, the old one, or the product alone.
No prices or offers
MRP, trade schemes and consumer offers change during the year; a calendar hangs for twelve months. Keep prices off the sheet and use the brand line, the pack and the customer-care number.
Product wording
Any line about taste, ingredients or nutrition should come from your approved packaging or marketing copy. It is set exactly as supplied and checked by you at mockup stage.
Festivals that move your category
Mark the dates retailers stock up for — Raksha Bandhan, Navratri, Diwali and Holi for sweets and namkeen, Eid for vermicelli and dry fruits, summer for beverages — beside national and UP holidays.
Language by tier
Counter calendars in Uttar Pradesh read best in Hindi, or Hindi with the brand name in English. Stockist diaries are often bilingual; modern-trade and head-office pieces English.
How the calendar reaches the shop
Reps on their beats, the distributor's van with stock, or inside product cartons — the answer sets the packing, bundles by beat or cartons by distributor, and the dispatch date.

From brief to the retailer's wall

  1. Brief from sales or marketing

Counts for each recipient group, pack files, language for each tier and the date calendars must reach distributors — usually early December, for the last beats of the year. An estimate follows on WhatsApp or email.

  2. Mockups in brand colours

Calendar sheets, diary cover and inside pages come back as mockups with packs at actual size. Two or three correction rounds are normal; each approval is recorded on email or WhatsApp.

  3. Printed sample beside the pack

A printed wall calendar and diary are made before bulk. Hold the calendar beside a real pack: paper and packaging film print differently, and this is where the brand colour is signed off.

  4. Packing plan from the distribution sheet

An Excel sheet of distributors and beats, with counts, becomes the packing plan — calendars bundled by beat, the rep's diary and pen added, cartons labelled with distributor and town.

  5. Production and dispatch

Our partner presses complete the run within 5–10 working days of approval. Lucknow lots are hand-delivered by our team; district distributors receive theirs by Delhivery, DTDC, VRL or bus transport, with docket numbers on WhatsApp.

Diwali and New Year: plan around your own peak

For most companies Diwali gifting is one more October task. For a sweets, namkeen, dry-fruit or bakery brand, October and early November are the busiest weeks of the year, and nobody has an hour to approve a gift-box mockup. Food brands that handle this well settle the Diwali order before festive production begins, so the sample is signed off before the rush.

Many food brands send their own products at Diwali — sweets or a hamper from the range. What we add is the part that lasts: a Diwali set of diary, pen and table calendar in a logo box, still on the distributor's desk in March when the sweets are long finished.

The New Year round is the calendar-and-diary round, with artwork approved in October or November so that sample, corrections and district dispatch finish before the reps' December beats; the 2027 order timeline sets out the weeks. If the brand also runs cafés, sweet-shop outlets or a restaurant, guest-facing print for those is on the hotels and restaurants page.

A worked example: a namkeen brand's New Year order

This is an illustrative brief, not a client case study. A namkeen and snacks company with its factory in the Talkatora industrial area sells through 22 distributors across central Uttar Pradesh, who supply about 4,500 retailers — kirana stores, sweet shops, paan counters and a few supermarkets. It has 30 sales representatives and 6 merchandisers, about 80 distributor salesmen running its beats, 10 promoters, 120 factory staff and four modern-trade buyers.

The order is 5,000 six-sheet Hindi wall calendars with two packs on every sheet and festival dates marked; 300 counter table calendars for wholesalers in Aminabad and Yahiyaganj and the larger retailers; 22 PU diaries with distributors' names foil-stamped; 116 dated field diaries with beat and outlet-visit pages, each with a printed pen; 10 promoter T-shirts from a size list; and four boxed diary–calendar sets for the buyers. Pack files and Hindi copy are approved in the last week of October after two correction rounds, and the sample calendar is checked against real packs in early November.

The calendars leave Vikas Nagar in the first week of December in 22 distributor cartons, bundled by beat, each with the field diaries for that distributor's salesmen. The factory's calendars go to the unit by hand, and the buyers' sets to the sales head for personal handover.

Where Lucknow's food and FMCG trade works

Food processing and packing units in Lucknow sit in a few industrial belts: Chinhat and Faizabad Road to the east, Talkatora to the west, Amausi and the Kanpur Road side to the south, and smaller units along Sitapur Road and Kursi Road, close to our studio in Vikas Nagar. FMCG distributors, godowns and the transporters serving the districts cluster around Transport Nagar and Alambagh.

The wholesale trade that supplies the city's kirana stores works from the lanes of Aminabad, Yahiyaganj and Naka Hindola, and the old sweet and namkeen houses are in Chowk and Aminabad — the counters a food brand most wants its calendar on. Supermarkets and mall stores are spread across Gomti Nagar and the Shaheed Path side. We deliver by hand to all of them — the full list is on the Lucknow areas page — and send district lots by transport.

Territory-wise packing for long distributor lists is covered in more detail on the dealers and distributors page. The same desk also prints product catalogues and numbered order books for salesmen outside the diary season.

Questions food and FMCG brands ask

Can the wall calendar show a different product each month?

Yes. A twelve-sheet calendar can carry one pack, flavour or recipe per month, and a six-sheet one per two months. For retail counters many brands still prefer one or six sheets, since fewer pages to turn keeps the right month showing.

Should we print MRP or a consumer offer on the calendar?

We advise against it. Prices and offers usually change during the year, while the calendar stays on the wall for twelve months. Show the pack, the brand line and the customer-care number, and keep offers for shelf material that can change mid-year.

What is the minimum quantity for retail-counter calendars?

The minimum is 1,000 wall calendars, and 100 for diaries or table calendars. Most food brands pass it easily once every outlet their distributors serve is counted; per-piece rates fall as quantities rise, so ask for a quote on the full count.

Can calendars be packed by beat so our reps can carry them?

Yes. Send a sheet of distributors and beats with a count for each. Calendars are bundled by beat with that rep's diary and pen, then packed in cartons labelled by distributor — hand-delivered in Lucknow, sent by transport to the districts.

Will the pack colours on the calendar match our packaging?

Paper and packaging film print differently, so the match is checked on a printed sample held beside the real pack before bulk begins. Once you approve that sample the run follows it, and any printing error against the approved proof is reprinted at our cost.

When should we order for Diwali and for New Year?

For Diwali, approve the gift-set sample before your own festive production starts. For New Year, approve calendar and diary artwork in October or November; production takes 5–10 working days after approval, with dispatch to districts before the December beats.
